Dear friends & supporters of our mission; 

This is the time of year for me, and I’m sure for all of you, that makes us feel happiness as well as sadness thinking more so about the loved one’s we have lost over the years wishing we could share this time with them.
I will always remember what made me start Tuffys Place back in 1996 when I rescued a semi feral cat from a nursing home where I used to volunteer my time with the residents. She was living on the grounds of the home accepting handouts of food from people. After many attempts I was able to coax her into a carrier and my co director at that time, Susan (RIP) brought her home where she would get what she needed most, human companionship 24/7. She was a very happy cat to have the love that all cats need. She was with us over a year before being diagnosed with an incurable cancer that went to her brain. We did all we could for her. She had 2 surgeries to try and stop the cancer from spreading but it was too late.
Our cats at Tuffy’s are happy cats with all the food and warmth that they need, they also have central air conditioning for the summer season but the one thing they need most is the human companionship full time and we give them as much of that as we can.
“NEWS BULLETIN”
I received a sad letter from a gentleman in Brooklyn that has donated to Tuffys over the years. His wife is very ill and she has become a vegetable now. She has a feeding tube attached and may not last much longer. This couple with their own funds have used their home for leukemia and aids positive cats and they took in from Tuffys 2 cats that were positive several years ago of which one is still alive. I cried reading his letter. He says that the row house he lives in on college grounds with over 40 positive cats will be torn down to make room for student housing in 2010. Deep down I want to help him and I could if we only had the funds to convert or replace one of the barns. I have checked into it and it would cost less to knock down one of the barns on Tuffys property.

which are only shells and put a mobile home in its place for his 40+ cats and for him as well if he wants to live here with a lifetime free lease. I estimate the cost at $75,000 to get it all set up, then all that is needed is the funds to afford the help needed.   
 WHAT I AM ASKING OF YOU IS THAT IF ANY OF YOU MIGHT KNOW OF ANY FOUNDATIONS, GRANTS, COMPANIES OR LARGE ORGANIZATIONS THAT WILL PROVIDE FUNDS TO DO THIS, PLEASE FORWARD THIS INFORMATION FOR ME....
